A simple man and a friend to all
The sudden death of Senator Datuk P.K. Subbaiyah, the Penang MIC chief on 18 April 2012, came as a shock to all Penangiites.
Anyone meeting the late Datuk Subbaiyah for the first time would be impressed with his simplicity and friendliness. Behind this simplicity was a man with a big heart for the people of all ethnicity whom he served, especially the poor, being involved extensively with many charitable organisations in the state.
He was indeed a man of virtues; humble, righteous and compassionate. He was respected by people across the political divide for his friendliness and willingness to go down to help anyone in need. His untimely demise is indeed a great loss for the people of Penang.
The state government should put aside the political differences with him and honour this man for his contributions to the people of Penang.
As we mourn the loss of a good friend and leader, we offer our deepest condolence to his family in this difficult times trying to cope with the sudden loss of a good husband and father. May his soul rest in peace.
